1 The identification of Richard as the son of Richard and Sarah is solely based at present on the information on the Butler Sociey website, Q48. "From 1721 Deed of Settlement (3555) etc., in Herts. Record Office, Mrs. Gillott of Sussex deduces that William, Richard, Thomas (b. 1726) and Daniel were sons of Richard (by Sarah née Woodroffe), s/o Richard of Wards, Ivinghoe, Bucks, s/o William Butler of St., Margarets, Ivinghoe."
