Died on the 3rd of October 1924 at 71, Lansdowne Road, Croydon Sarah Jane's father, an undertaker, died when Sarah was 21 but she didn't marry for another 17 years. Her whereabouts in that period have not yet been traced. Her husband, who was fifteen years older than her, died only 8 years after the marriage. |

A Sarah Butler aged 9, born Middlesex, is listed in the 1841 census but living with a tailor and a 'coal whopper'. Another Sarah Butler aged 9, born Surrey, is listed in the 1841 census but living with a Charles Crinks, journeyman carpenter.
On the 12th of April 1849 a knitting pattern for doilies (for furniture) was addressed to Miss Butler, Mr Dives Hale Farm Nutfield so it appears that at this time Sarah Jane was living with her grandfather.
