2 Between 1648 and 1661 since the elder son John was born in 1647
3 The will would appear to indicate that William is the eldest son - he is the executor, left no legacy but covenants to pay his mother an annual sum in lieu of her widow's rights presumably because he inherits the farm. This would be explained if the first son John had died. A John Dickinson was buried on the 16th of February 1688.
4 A William, son of Nicholas Dickinson of Randlehow, was baptised on the 26th of July 1656
5 William's elder brother John died in 1711, leaving a son, also John, born in 1680.
