Hannah Tyson
Notes
1 A settlement trust indenture of 1820, unsigned, indicates that Hannah Tyson of Mill Place, Netherwasdale (the home of Isaac Miller) had agreed to marry John Nicholson of Randlehow, Eskdale.
2 I had taken John Nicholson of Randlehow to be John Nicholson leading to the possibility that his wife (Hannah Wilson) had died and he remarried. However in 1820 he would probably not have been referred to as 'of Randlehow'. It seems more likely that the intended marriage partner was John Nicholson whose first wife had probably died in 1804 and who moved to Randlehow, probably on the death of Stephen, who died in 1820, or John Nicholson eldest son of Stephen (who married Elizabeth Brocklebank in 1824). In the end the marriage apparently did not take place since Hannah Tyson died a spinster leaving a will in 1840.
3 Originally thought possibly the Hannah Tyson, daughter of Thomas and Betty Tyson, baptised on the 9th of August 1798 at Netherwasdale, Cumberland. In view of the fact that she termed Isaac Miller's children her nieces and nephews, Hannah is likely to have been born considerably earlier.
Other Hannah Tysons of suitable age and location listed in the IGI are
Hannah, d.o. Hannah Tyson, baptised Eskdale 15th November 1788
Ann, d.o. John and Mary Tyson, baptised Netherwasdale, 1795
Hannah, d.o. John Tyson and Ann Coward baptised Eskdale 31 July 1797
Hannah, d.o. John Tyson, baptised St Bridget Beckermet 30th July 1797
Hannah, d.o. George Tyson, baptised Gosforth 6th Jun 1798
(I now need to check earlier births).
