A curation bond was a form of guardianship, similar to a tuition bond, but usually relating to older children.
Mrs Janet Martin in "The Hawkshead Connection: Some Cumbrian Baptists" (CWAAS 1991) states that John was the only son of Ephraim and gives the same birth date as I deduce. Ephraim's will refers to three children, not named, so I assume that Mrs Martin has seen the original curation bond and that it makes clear that John was an only son and therefore that the other two children were daughters.
2 Ephraim Gregg is known to have been a Baptist which explains why his children do not appear in the Grasmere registers.
3 Possibly the John Grigg who died in Crosthwaite, Keswick in 1815 aged 67 and possibly the John Grigg who married Mary Cowen in Crosthwaite in 1767.
