1 Ray Thackray suggests that John might be the father of Matthew, Elizabeth and Esther Grigg as well as Christopher and the brother of Henry Grigg who married at St Kentigern in 1776.
It is just possible that John, Henry and Ephraem were sons of Ephraim Grigg of Great Langdale who married in Brigham in 1744 and died in 1750. Henry moved (back?) to Langdale around 1783. If John is the one buried in 1815 and if the age is right then he was born around 1748, which fits.
2 A John Grigge was baptised on the 16th of May 1737 at Dean, Cumberland but died on the 18th of May.
3 It is supposed that Esther, Elizabeth and Matthew may have been baptised at Thornthwaite, but recorded in a lost register. The relationships are surmised based upon marriage witnesses.
