1 Nicholson Family Trees p375 says John Nicholson married Isabella Wasdale at Irton 1701 (d 1714) but I think this was a John Nicholson of Slapestones who had a daughter Jane in 1703.
2 There is another Isabel, daughter of Nicholas Hartley, in 1693 or 1695 but she would have been rather young to be John's mother. Nicholas Hartley who dies in 1717 mentions his son-in-law John Nicholson in his will of Dec 1717. Isabella's brother John also mentions hid nephews John and Stephen, and also John Nicholson's (second) wife Mary.
