1 Elianor Hartley of Church-house in her will of 1717 identifies her son-in-law as Nicholas Hartley of Miterdale.
2 Thomas Hartley of Bout mentions the children of his son in law Nicholas in his will. These are the baptisms of children of Nicholas Hartley, other than the Thomas and John mentioned in the will of Nicholas Hartley of Bout.
3 One of the Isabels is the daughter of Nicholas Hartley of Bout and married John Nicholson. The other probably was buried in 1710. Considering the marriage date of this Nicholas Hartley and Isabel Hartley, the 1686 Isabel is probably the daughter of Nicholas Hartley of Bout.
4 Edward Hartley's will of 1752 mentions his brother Henry and sister Bridget, but not a brother John.
