Notes

The marriage of  Thomas Hartley of St John's, Beckermet and Frances Shelton of St John's, Beckermet on the 13th of June 1657 was recorded by Commissioner Thompson of Thornflatt, Drigg. A Thomas Hartley of St Bridget's, Beckermet left a will in 1681. It seems likely this was a different Thomas Hartley.

The baptism records of John, Isabel and Ellen all identify Thomas as 'of Bought'. Nicholas, died 1717, was of 'Bout' but he may have been Isabel's husband rather than Thomas's son - NO,Isabel's husband died 1675.

Isabell's will 1676 mentions her grandchild Isabel, daughter of her son Thomas. This is consistent with Issabel, baptised on the 6th of December 1665 at Eskdale, Cumberland. It also mentions her son Henry and (I think) her grandson, Nicholas.

    See will.

The baptismal entry is illegible but Eleanor Hartley was buried from Church House in 1725, leaving a will mentioning Thomas. Her will mentions her daughter Ellinor

Thomas Hartley's will of 1700 mentions his son-in-law Edward Tyson and Ellinor his wife.

Neither Susan nor John are mentioned in Thomas's will.

There is an Ellinor, daughter of Thomas Hartley, baptised on the 29th of October 1687 at St Catherine's. At 13 she is certainly too young to be Edward Tyson's wife in 1700. However I haven't yet identified another Thomas Hartley to be her father.
