3    The death of a James Holmes aged 59 was registered in Holborn in the first quarter of 1872 (FreeBMD 1b 518). This is two years too old. The death of a James Holmes aged 63 was registered in the third quarter of 1877 in St George, Hanover Square (FreeBMD 1a 201)

4    The banns of marriage were published 9, 16, 23 August 1840 between James Holmes, bachelor and Eliza Frances Amelia Fox, widow, at All Saints, Poplar. Registered FreeBMD 2 304. The names of James and Frances daughter supports this as being the relevant marriage.

5    1841 Census James Holmes, 25, St George Hanover Square (Pembroke Mews North) is a male servant, born in the county.
