Captain Edward Molyneux: (1891 - 1974) Born in London to Irish Parents. Studied art and trained at Lucile. Became an army captain during the First World War. Opened own couture houses in 1919 in London and in Paris. A highly respected designer renowned for his tailoring, bias-cus, and use of oriental styling. In the 1930s designed costumes for leading actresses including Gertrude Lawrence and Ina Claire. He returned to London in 1940 retired in 1950, made a comeback in 1964 and finally retired in 1969. John Tullis continued to run Studio Molyneux a deluxe ready-to-wear line until the house closed in 1977. designed costumes for the stage and for Hollywood films.

Molyneux married, in 1923, as her first husband, (Jessie) Muriel Dunsmuir (1890-1951), one of the eight daughters of the Hon. James Dunsmuir, Premier of British Columbia. They divorced in 1924.
