Notes

1    The manorial records mention only one Nicholas Nicholson in Miterdale at this date - Nicholas Nicholson of Browyeat in 1578, successor to William Nicholson. However Nicholas's will indicates that he only had one surviving son, William. One of the partners to the admonition was 'Nicolai Nickoulson de Myterdaïlle'. The will of  William Nicholson of Hollinghow in 1612 mentions Nicholas Nicholson of Browyeat as a debtor,  the will of Henry Nicholson (the elder) of Bought in 1627 lists Nicholas Nicholson of Browyeat as one of the supervisors of the will and the records indicate that a Nicholas Nicholson was still/again tenant in 1633.

Thus it seems unlikely that that this Nicholas was Nicholas of Browyeat.

2    Possibly the son of the William Nicholson who died in 1574 - except there is no mention in William's will of the brother John that Nicholas mentions in his own will. However there is a John Nicholson at Mitredale Head mentioned in the Percy survey. There is (another?) John Nicholson at Low Holme in 1547(?) who sells the property to Henry Porter before 1578.
