Notes

Information from "The Family Forest": Margaret M. Russell. Ulpha Press 2000. P109

Alive in 1648 since in legal dispute with Nicholas Dickinson (D/LEC/265/267); Bridget is a widow in 1655/6 when John was admitted tenant to Randlehow (as an 'infant') (D/LEC/311). See ref #1 p109. Note that John would have been 16 at the time - which appears to have been accepted as a suitable age of responsibility.

Margaret Russell believes that Nicholas is possibly son of Henry Nicholson and brother to John Nicholson of Slapestones.

Anne, baptised on the 28th of November 1641 at Eskdale4 from Paddockwray (?died 1642) was the daughter of a different Nicholas Nicholson

The relationship between Nicholas and his son John is confirmed by the admittance of John as tenant at Randlehow in 1655/6 by Bridget; and between John and his brother Nicholas by John's will (which does not mention Anne?). Paddockwray is mentioned in the will of a John Nicholson in 1608. William Nycholsone of Paddockwray died in 1641.
