Stephen Nicholson
Married. His wife was left a coat with a blue border by
John Nicholson of Randelhow's servant
Jenett Stainton in her
will of
1665.
Neither baptism, marriage nor burial for Stephen found in Eskdale, Muncaster, Waberthwaite, Nether Wasdale nor Irton registers.
This would imply that Stephen was born early 17th century, possibly a younger son of Nicholas Nicholson and Bridget Robinson born say 1641 or 1645 - but this imply a very young marriage, especially for a younger son.
Unlikely to be a son of William Nicholson since that would be too early. Possibly son of Henry Nicholson and thus John Nicholson's uncle (though that relationship is speculative). If born before 1628, there would be no record of baptism in the Eskdale church registers but they are not mentioned in Emma Nicholson's will, therefore presumably would have been born after 1628 and should have appeared in the Eskdale registers.
Tentative date of birth, then, c1625???
