Notes
Almost certainly William Nicholson of Low Place since he is the only William Nicholson recorded in the 1633 General Fine in Mitredale. The property had been mortgaged to Thomas Seatle for £62-10-0d prior to 1634.
A William Nicholson was buried on the 31st(?) of April 1636 at St Catherine's
Low Place was surrendered at Michaelmas (29th September) 1637 to Henry Nicholson, clothworker, of London by a William Nicholson. Is this because the money was needed to bring up William's children following his death in 1636? It was passed on by Henry Nicholson to John Hudson at Ladyday (25th March) 1656 - when all William's children were over 21? Is the William who surrendered the property the one who died in 1636? It would have been normal for the tenancy of the property to pass to William's wife on behalf of the elder son, and I would have expected it to he who surrendered the property to Henry Nicholson. Did Henry act 'in loco parentis' as it were - see note 5.
The wife of a William Nicholson was buried on the 6th of August 1650 at St Catherine's
A William Nicholson son of Henry of Lowplace was left a legacy by William Hartley in 1652.
