Recorded as a linen draper in Appledore in 1830, 1844 and 1857 2. Living at Market Street at the time of the 1841 census. The Hannah Bown living in the same house may well be her daughter (despite the apparently wrong age). Their husbands may have died or be at sea - unlikely in the case of Thomas Swindale. She is still living at Market Street in 1851 and 1861.
