In 1841 Thomas is a plasterer but he is not listed in the 1851 census and Elizabeth ('married' and 'wife') is struggling to support herself as a Governess and tobacconist. In 1861, a widow, she just describes herself as 'Governess'.
In 1871 Elizabeth is living with Samuel Croucher, another tobacconist, in Camberwell. No marriage has been found.
