The identification of John Fleming Richards with the John Richards named as father of all the children listed above is based upon the naming of his first daughter Mary Stephens - the name of John Fleming Richards' wife.
John's third son, William Henry, may be the William Henry Richards who married Mary Keogh in 1856. His age is right, the father's name is right and William Henry has a brother Samuel who marries an Elizabeth.
Marriage, births and baptisms from IGI
There are a few references to a (mining) Captain John Richards - Clifford United Mines; Worthing Copper Mine in South Australia in 1847, having moved from the Princes Royal mine.
I have been unable to find any of the sons in the 1841 or 1851 census. Was John Fleming abroad in Brazil / Australia? (John junior was probably in India by 1851)
