1 The Family Forest, page 59. According to Margaret Russell, Abraham is the son of Robert, son of Nicholas Stephenson, but the gap between generations is too small.
2 Abraham Stephenson of Plumgarth, Irton, left a will proved in 1767. Isaac Stephenson of Plumbgarth a will in 1795,and another Isaac of Plumbgarth one in 1811. The Rev. Robert Stephenson of Plumbgarth left a will in1737.
3 According to Margaret Russell, the Rev. Robert Stephenson was Abraham's only surviving issue
4 Mentioned in will. A William Stephenson was baptised on the 14th of April 1735 at Irton, but he was the son of a John Stephenson.
