1 The Christian name 'Humphrey' is not otherwise found amoung the Swindles of north-east England although it was common in Cheshire. No baptism or children have yet been found. It is possible that Humphrey was an 'immigrant' from the Cheshire. The baptisms of fifteen Hemphrey Swindel(l)s in Cheshire are listed in the IGI between 1748 and 1774. (I have not yet researched this period in Cheshire).
