1 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881 censuses but not found thereafter.
2 The death of a Jane Swindle aged 67 was registered in Easington in quarter 2 of 1881 (FreeBMD 10a 222) and in Hexham aged 68 in quarter 4 of 1889 (FreeBMD 10b 215). I would expect the death to have been registered in Chester le Street, though I have not matched the second reference with a known individual.
3 Listed in the 1861 census as the grand-daughter of Thomas Swindle (1797 - ?). This suggests that she was the daughter of Thomas or Jane as above. In 1871 she was visiting Morgan Robinson.
4 There was no birth of an Elizabeth Swindle registered in the Chester-le-Street district in 1852 or 1853 but the birth of Elizabeth Jane Harrison was registered there in the second quarter of 1852 (FreeBMD 10a 255).
The birth of an Elizabeth Jane Robinson was registered there in the second quarter of 1853 (FreeBMD 10a page illegible). An Elizabeth Jane Speed was also registered in the same quarter.
