1 At the time of the 1851 census Jane was working as a house servant for Thomas Dryden and family in Alston. Jane's younger brother, Francis, married an Elizabeth Dryden in 1861 but this is NOT the daughter of Thomas Dryden (see Norman Swindle's notes).
