1 The birth of Robert Swindale was registered in Newcastle upon Tyne in the first quarter of 1870. His marriage to Margaret Jane Thompson was registered there in the fourth quarter of 1890 and his death at the age of 67 in the third quarter of 1937. (Information from Norman Swindle)
2 The information in Richard Swindale's family tree stated that Robert had married a Margaret Armstrong in 1889. However on the one hand Norman Swindle has not been able to trace this marriage, and on the other hand the 1891 census and 1901 census are fairly conclusive that the mother of Robert's children was Margaret Jane (nee Thompson).

5 I note that Margaret Jane Thompson's sister, Mary, apparently married a Fender. Robert's brother Thomas married an Ellen Stewart Fender - coincidence?
