I have been able to trace my ancestry to England where I am presently stymied. I have recently learned, through their death certificates that my g-grandfather Lenard Armstrong was born their in 1818 to a William and Mary Armstrong, and that my g-grandmother Tamer (or Tamir) was born there in 1822 to a John Armstrong and a Mary Swindle. (Cousins maybe? Another story) Lenard and Tamer were married in England in 1845, and soon thereafter immigrated to Canada, where they lived for over 30 years. The last 10 at least, were spent the town of Lucknow, Bruce Co. Ontario. They had 7 children, 5 of which were named John, b-1846, Joseph (my grandfather), b-1849, Mary, b-1852, Elizabeth, b-1855 and William, b-1863. Joseph married a Alice Hale in Lucknow in 1874, and had two sons born there, William b-1876, and Leonard, (my father) b-1878. Joseph and his family and Elizabeth and her family, (she married a Robert Scott in 1877), came to the US in October of 1879 and settled in Moorhead MN. Lenard and Tamer followed soon after in 1880, and lived with Elizabeth until they passed away in 1901 and 1903 respectively. My father, Leonard James A, married a Lyda Czarnetski in 1899, and had a son Leonard William A in 1899. They divorced in 1917 and he married my mother Rosalia Schreck in 1925 in Duluth MN. A daughter Shirley was born in 1925, and a son James Allen A, (me) was born in 1934. Leonard James A died in Duluth MN in 1940, and Leonard William died in Bullhead City AZ in 1974. Leonard William A had two children from a first marriage, Donald b- 1920 and Phyllis b-1923. I have more information for any Canadian cousins that I may have, and I would appreciate any help I can get in tracing my ancestry in England starting with William A and John A.
