Notes

1    Possibly the same Thomas Usher who married Janet Hodgson in 1716 - check for a Janet Usher burial.

2     'Corinne' suggests that the Thomas Usher who married in 1744 was the son of this Thomas. It is true that a son (illegible) of a Thomas Usher was baptised in 1723 at Crosthwaite but this might not have been Thomas and the father could equally have been the Thomas Usher who married Janet Hodgson in 1716. The original registers may give better information - for example did Janet die and Thomas re-marry? Is the missing name ledgible with hard work?

3    'Corinne' also suggests that this Thomas is the son of the Thomas Usher who married Margret Brownrigge in 1699.  This is possible but there appears to be no supporting evidence. A son of a marriage in 1699 would have been very young to have married in 1719 - normal Cumberland custom was for a son to establish himself before marriage.
