Notes
1 There is no suggestion in the will that any of the children are minors. This would suggest a marriage date around 15853 and a birth date of around 1555
2 A John Vicars was tenant of Birdhow in 1578 but Christopher Vicars in 1587.
3 Christopher Vickars will of 1587 mentions John's son Christopher, but (I think) no other grandchildren. This suggests that John could have been married c1585 and had eight children in the next thirty years.
4 The link between John and Christopher Vickars is suggested on the basis of
i) Christopher Viccars being listed as tenant of Birdhow in the Eskdale 24 book of 1587 and John passing Birdhow to his son in 1613.
ii) John Vickars naming his eldest son Christopher; there seems to be a naming pattern John - Christopher - John - Christopher.
iii) Christopher Vickars mentioning a grandson Christopher, son of John, in his will
iv) Christopher Vickars mentioning a daughter Margaret in his will and John Vickars mentioning a sister Margaret in his will. However John does not mention Christopher's other sons Thomas and Christopher, but does imply he has two more sisters other than Margaret.
5 More relationships mentioned in will - eg 'my sister Robert Vickars wife". NB This is Agnes.
