I had better explain where I fit into this vast jig-saw. Anne Swindale(1841 -1898), who married Thomas Hutchinson is my Gt. grandmother. My grandfather is Edward Hutchinson, their youngest son, who became a school teacher. He married Ellen Lawrence, also from Millom, and they raised eleven children, including my mother, in Faversham, Kent. After my mother died I became even more interested in our family history, the Hutchinson side was never discussed and very little seemed to be known about them by other relatives. However I am now getting a much clearer picture and am fortunate enough to live between Carlisle and Penrith, so getting to places of interest around Millom and in the northeast is quite easy for me. I'm afraid I do not agree with the details of Anne's death - she is buried in St. George's churchyard, Millom, toge ther with her husbandThomas, and their eldest son John Joseph. I have attached a picture of their gravestone for you. According to this she died 27 March 1915 aged 74, although to date I have not established where this was. Is your informant, Joan Shrewsbury still alive? if she is, would it be possible to let me know how to get in touch with her. She seems to know so much about my ancestors; her grandfather Joseph, was my Gt. Gt. uncle, the joiner at Haverigg, Millom. Regards, Gill Wilson
