Alan,
......

I see that your website has a page "Ann Swindale married 1862", which would
appear to relate to my Ann's first marriage to Robert Clarke - I have a copy
of this marriage certificate. (Page now deleted since redundant - AJS).

Thomas Hutchinson was born 20 April 1839 in Arkengarthdale, second son of
John and Mary (nee Moralee) Hutchinson - I have a copy of his birth
certificate.

Ann Hutchinson (nee Swindale) died at Topcliffe, Nr Thirsk, N. Yorks - I
have a copy of her death certificate.

Robert Swindale b. 16 Jul 1865, d. 22 Jul 1865 was son of Joseph and
Elizabeth (nee Leonard) Swindale - I have a copy of his birth certificate.
It would appear their second son, Joseph Charles born in the first quarter
of 1870 (after Joseph had died) also only live a short time, his death is
recorded in the same quarter. Incidentally I have also got a copy of
Joseph's death certificate.

I have also obtained a copy of Robert Hetherington's (husband of Sarah
Swindale) death certificate. I have made contact with Jenny de Angelis and
we are looking at the Swindale/Hetherington connections.

I have found a Wolsingham GRO ref for a death of Robert Clarke, a fair
assumption that this relates to Ann's first husband would you agree?

........

Regarding my interest in Eskdale - my gt grand father, William Thomas
Lawrence, seems to have had a connection with a house which is now called
Woodbank; I think it was known as Woodnook earlier on. My mother and many of
her siblings spent summer holidays there, although they always referred to
it as Whinney Wood, but photographs I have been given and a site visit
confirm exactly which property it is. So far I have not been able to
establish whether or not the family actually owned the place or perhaps it
belonged to a family friend. I would be grateful if you could let me have
any relevant information you might come across whilst delving in that area.

Hope we shall be able to meet again sometime this year
Best wishes, Gill
