I have been reading through your pages and I have a Sarah Swindale born 1868 in Castlside if it is the same person which I think it is as her mother was Elizabeth Leonard and her brother was Jabez born 1866. Sarah was married to my GGgrandfather William Henry Maddison and they had a son Harry Templeton Maddison Harry was born in 1891. Sarah died on the 29 Jan 1905 and my GGgrandfather married again. Harry died in 1952 I don't know if he had any family. Harry's middle name comes from his grandmother Ann Templeton who was married to Thomas Leonard. They came from Benfieldside and that's where William and Sarah lived.

Thankyou for you reply I find it hard to work out relationships so you are probably right. Sarah married William in 1890 and he was an Engine Driver at the steel works which I presume was Consett. I have enclosed a copy of the 1881 census you probably have it but just in case also a copy of the 1891 census with Harry on. I have had contact with Valerie I first contacted her in Jan this year after I saw a message she had left on rootsweb I sent her an email telling her about your web page. The person who contacted me was a Chris Wilson about Jabez as I have my tree on Genesreunited and she told me about your web page. The web site is very good with lots of info. Good luck with sorting your computer they are wondrous things but can be a pain at times. After Sarah died in Jan 1905 he married Elizabeth Foster in April that year William didn't wait long Elizabeth's father was an engine erector at the steel works also so I presume that's how they met. I am going to try and find more info on Harry to see if he did marry and have any family if I find anything I will let you know.

I have found Harry's marriage and got the cert he married Elizabeth Driver on the 3rd June 1915 the children I have found so far are Elizabeth C born 1916 John H 1917 Harry T 1919 all born in Newcastle. When Harry married he was living at 79 Joseph Street and he was a Store Keeper. Elizabeth was 21 and lived at 78 West View her father was John a miner but it do not say what kind. I have tried to find the Drivers on the census but so far they elude me as I am not sure were they came from.

Hi Alan 
Just as a matter of interest I noticed you have a few people with the name Heslop my Grandfather William Heslop Maddison as you will see his middle name is Heslop but I don't know were it comes from there is a few in the family with it as middle names do you know of any connection.
