About time for another update of some more info I have found..

1) Robert Swindle, born 1859, son of Joseph & Sarah Ann (nee Coldwell).

1901 Census: 35 Penhevad St, Canton, Cardiff (RG13 / 4988 folio 62 page 24)

Note: Swindell not Swindle.

I believe Isabella was their first child so did they have anymore children and, if so, did they survive as they are not on the census?. Not found yet on the 1891 Census.

2) Ellen Swindle (nee Walton) who married Peter Swindle in 1871

1901 Census: 57 Norfolk Street, North Shields (RG13 / 4802 folio 44 page 22)

Note: The surname Swiedle is how it appears in the transcription given by www.census.pro.gov.uk and also on the actual page but

I'm sure it should be Swindle. It ties in with the Walton name. Also the Census entry for Ellen's family has no head of household recorded i.e.:

3) Rachel Swindle (1822 - 1896)

1861 Census: Workhouse (Hexham) (RG9/3860 folio 19 page 1)

At long last I have found this missing Census entry for Rachel and it introduces another find,

She was sunk at 05:00 on 2/12/1940, 400 miles west of Ireland after being hit by 5 torpedos, the initial one apparently fired from German submarine U99.

I believe Jane Ann's mother Elizabeth (bap 9/5/1854 at Allendale) is the daughter of Craig & Hannah (nee Laing) Craig's sister Susannah (bap 12/2/1804 at Ninebanks) married Matthew Wilkinson on 25/6/1836 at Allendale.

12) Family of Thomas and Ellen (nee Moffat)

a) Son John (bap 26/8/1862) probably buried at Carrshield on 25/5/1864 aged 1

b) Daughter Mary Ann (Birth registered Mar Qtr 1865 at Hexham) married Harry Oldfield Mar Qtr 1889 registered at Cockermouth c) Daughter Hannah (Birth registered Sep Qtr 1869 at Hexham) married Clement Bragg Jun Qtr 1893 registered at Cockermouth. d) Son Frederick James (bap 21/6/1874) died Dec Qtr 1939 aged 65 registered at Barrow in Furness.
