Alan,

After a lot of frustration trying to resolve things, I decided to blow the expense and purchase various certificates which has helped to clarify some areas and, in some cases, correct some previous assumptions I made. Here are the details of the certificates:

Mary Swindle (nee Henderson).

(DC)    Died 30/9/1846 at Hillersdon Terrace. Age 37
Wife of Francis Swindle, Smelter of Lead Ore
Inflamatory Fever.

Informant: Mary Wilkinson present at the death. Hillersdon Terrace.

I have not found where she was buried.

Mary Swindle (nee Hall??)

(DC)    Died 1/7/1850 at Dykeheads. Age 41

Wife of Thomas Swindle, Smelter of Lead Ore.
Disease of the Spine.

Informant: John Swindle in attendance. Hillersden Terrace

I believe she was buried at St. Johns Church, Nenthead
Burial Register states:

Susanna Swindle

(BC)     Born 28/2/1845 at Hillersdon Terrace.
Father: Francis Swindle, Smelter of Lead Ore
Mother: Mary Swindle formerly Henderson
Informant: Francis Swindle father Hillersdon Terrace.

I believe she was buried at St. Johns Church, Garrigill.
Burial Register states:

Rachel Swindle

(DC)    22/4/1896 at Limestone Brae, Allendale R.D. Age 74.
Domestic Servant

Epithelioma of Tongue 2 years. Exhaustion.

Informant: Mary Parker present at the death. Myrtle Bank, Allendale

I still cannot find where she was buried.

Peter Swindle

(BC)     Born 15/11/1842 at Hillersdon Terrace
Father: John Swindle, Smelter of Lead Ore
Mother: Jane Greenwell formerly Greenwell. I
nformant: Jane Swindle. Mother. Hillersdon Terrace.

I believe he was buried at St. Johns Church, Garrigill. Burial Register states:

Peter Swindle

(BC)     Born 20/5/1856 at Hillersdon Terrace Father: No entry

Mother: Jane Swindle

Informant: Jane Swindle. Mother. Hillersdon Terrace

it appears that Jane could be the daughter of either Francis and Margaret or of their son Francis who married Mary Henderson. Census shows the families living at Hillersdon Terrace, Nenthead in 1841/1851/1861­

I believe he was buried at St. Johns Church, Nenthead Burial Register states:

Margaret Swindle, born 1845, daughter of Peter and Mary.

The Death Certificate for Margaret's mother Mary showed the informant as Edward Pearson, son in law.

St. Catherines Index shows Margaret Swindle married Edward Pearson

Informant: Elizabeth laws present at the death. Hall Moor Bywell St Andrew
