The Will of Bridget Hartley of Mitterdaile head 1669

In the name of God Amen : I Bridget hartley of Mitterdaile head in the
pish of Saint bees and Countie of Comberland widdowe sicke in body but pfect
in minde and memorie praysed be god, do make this my last will and Testament in
manner and forme as followeth, first I give and bequeath my soule into the handes
of Christ Jesus my mercyfull Saviour and redeemer and my body to be buryed in
the Church yard of Eskdale, and all dewties due for the same to be discharged and paide
Alsoe it is my will and Minde to make my sonne William hartley his portion
three score poundes in moneyes, It I give to my son William hartley a paire
of bedstockes and furniture to it of the best sort It I give to my daughter Susan
five pounds It I doe give to Robert fisher of gosforth two shillinges six
pence It I give to my daughter Susan all my shapen cloathes linen and
woollen and a shift, except two ould coats and a ould westcoat It I give to my god barnes
twelve pence a peece and alsoe I make my sonne William hartley wife and my sonne
John hartley and my sonn in law John Rodger sole and Joynt Executors of this
my last will and Testament, paying all my debtes and legacies and funerall
expences

And for my sonn William hartley three score poundes hee is to
chuse debtors where he likes best for it Witnesses hereto

The Condition of this Obligation is such, That if the above-bounden John Heartley & Willm Heartley doe well and trely execute, performe, fulfill and keep the last Will and Testament of Bridgett Heartley late of Miterdale in pish of St Bees (viz.) do.........
