Notes
1 Edward presumably used to live at Eskdale Mill but is now living at Spouthouse (with his brother Henry?)
2 Relationships mentioned in will
Sister –
Bridget Porter
Nephew – Joseph Porter
Nieces – Elizabeth Dickinson (Elizabeth
Porter)
Isabel Jackson3
Christian Hartley4
Brother – Henry Hartley
Sons – Daniel Hartley
Edward Hartley
William Hartley
Henry Hartley
3 Elizabeth Hartley of Muncaster married Nicholas Jackson at Eskdale in 1677, but this seems too early. There is no later appropriate marriage at Eskdale.
4 There is no baptism of Christian Hartley at Eskdale. LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR THIS FAMILY.
5 A John Hartley of Spouthouse was buried in 1728 leaving an admonition and inventory, and another John Hartley of Spouthouse was buried in 1731. I therefore postulated a John Hartley with children John, Henry, Edward, and Bridget. However John's executor was Nicholas Hartley of Mitredalehead.
