In the Name of God Amen. the Ninth Day of July 1717
I Elianor Hartley of Church-house in Eskdale in ye Parish of St
Bees & County of Cumberland Widow being in perfect Mind & Memory
Praised be God, do make this My LastWill & Testament in Maner.
and Form following
I give and bequeath my Soul into ye Hands of Almighty God & Christ
Jesus my Merciful Saviour & Redeemer And my Body to be buried
in decent and Christian Maner. And as for my worldly Goods, I give
and bequeath the same as followeth
Imprimus I give and bequeath to my son Nicholas Hartley of Bout
Two Shillings Item I give unto my son Thomas Hartley Twenty Shill
-ings; Item I give and bequeath unto my son-in-law Nicholas Hartley
of Mit.dale Twenty Shillings. Item I give anf bequeath unto my Son
in Law Edward Tyson & Elianor his Wife my Daughter all my
Goods, Chattels Rights & Credits whom I make whole Executors of
this my Last Will & Testament the Paying my Debts Legacies
& Funeral Expences, In Witness whereof I have hereunto Sett my
Hand &Seal the Day and Year first above Written

1    This will is made in July. Nicholas Hartley of Bout made his will in December 1717.

2    Elianor identifies her son as Nicholas Hartley of Bout and her son-in-law as Nicholas Hartley of Miterdale. This is an important identification!

3    Elianor does not die until 1725.
