The Will of Elizabeth Dickinson 1756 (died 1764)

In the Name of God, Amen. I Elizabeth Dickinson
of Wallbarrow in Ulpha in the Parish of Millom in the County of Cumberland
Widow, being in perfect Health, and sound Mind and Memory, but calling
to Remembrance the frailty and Uncertainty of Human Life, Do make
and Ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and Form following,
That is to say, I will and desire that all my just Debts, Funeral
Expences and Legacies be fully paid and Discharged by my Executrix
hereafter Named and Appointed within the space of twelve Calendar
Months next after my Decease
To my Son Henry Dickinson at Armounthows in Eskdale I give and
bequeath the Sum of One Shilling in Money.
To my Daughter Hannah Roper of Wallabarrow in Ulpha, I give and
bequeath the Sum of Five Pounds in Money

     All the rest, residue and Remainder of my Goods, Chattels, Credits,
Ready Money, Personal Estates and Effects whatsoever I give, bequeath
and Devise to my Daughter Alice Dickinson, making, Nominating
Ordaining, Constituting and Appointing her my said Daughter Alice
Dickinson whole and sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament
hereby revoking and setting void all former Wills or Bequests by me
at any Time heretofore made. In Witness whereof I the said Elizabeth
Dickinson have hereunto set my Mark and Seal this Eighteenth Day of
September in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and
fifty six

as and for her last Will and Testament in the
sight and Presence of Us, who in her Presence      The Mark 2 of Elizabeth
at her Request, and in the presence of each                                     Dickinson
other, have hereunto Subscribed our Names
as Witnesses

Will named was sworn well and truly to execute

believed all the personal Effects the Testatrix

A True and perfect Inventory,  of all the Goods and Money
of Elizabeth Dickinson of Harmenthouse in Eskdale
in the parish of St Bees and County of Cumberland Widow
Deceased, view,d and appraised by us this 19th Day of November
in the year of our Lord 1764
