The twelft day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty, I Ephram Grigg of Wall End in Great Longdale in the Parish of Grasmore in the County of Westmorland Yeoman, being Sick Body but in perfect Mind & Memory, praisd be God, I do make & ordain this my last Will and Testament in Manner and Form following; First and principally I commend my soul to Almighty God steadfastly believing through the meritetorious Passion of Jesus Christ my advocat & Redeemer to have Pardon for all my Sins, and my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently interrd at the discretion of my Executor herein after Named; and as for my temporal Estat I Dispose of the Same as Followeth; That is to say I Give Grant Devise and Bequeath unto John Pritt Jon Wilson & Js Yudale whom I do nominate & apoints John Prett of Greenbank, & Jonathan Willson of Brotherinkel & Joseph Youdale of Robsonground to sell so soone as posabel after my deceas or when they think proper, all my Tennements & Parcels & all they Lands and all they Houses belonging to me; and all they Shop belonging to me, & all they Horses belonging to me, & all they Beasts belonging to me; and all they husbandregear; and they sd men is to pay all my just debts but Funeral Expenses, and they remendr of the money it is my will & mind that they said men shall devied it equely to my Wife & my three Children and if any of they Childer diee before they come to the age of one and Twenty Years, then that sume is to be divided equall to they other Childer; and for ye love & affections I have to John Prett and Jonathean Willson I give Each of them Twenty Shillings; I give unto my Beloved wife Sarah Grigg all my Housalt goods whatsoever belonging to me, but what is above Men[tion]ed, and I do make her my whole & Sole Executor of this my Last Will & Testament she paying my Funera Expenses; as my Hand & seal day & year first above written.

Dear Sir,
Yesterday I delivered to Barber our carrier three wills sealed up for your Dispatch and in Haste I think I forgot to write an act on Grigg's Will, and therefore I give you the Trouble of this to assure you that Sarah Grigg the Exr therein named was sworn as usual the Day of the Date of the Bond to wit 25th [?]. If it be consistent I wd be glad if you cd send the Probat of that will with or without the Original along with the other two. I have not one Will Bd left. I am,

Know all Men by these Presents that We Sarah Grigg of Wall End in Great Langdale in the Parish of Grasmere in the County of Westmorland Widow and John Pritt of Green Bank in Dunnerdale in the County of Lancaster and Jonathan Wilson of Butterelkel in the Parish of Millom in the County of Cumberland, Yeoman are holden and firmly bound unto the Right Reverend Father in God, Samuel, by Divine Permission, Lord Bishop of Chester, in two hundred and thirty four Pound of good and lawful Money of Great Britain, to be paid to the said Right Reverend Father or to his certain Attorney, well and truly to be made, We bind ourselves, and each of Us our Heirs, Executors, and Adminstrators firmly by these Presents, sealed with our Seals, Dated the twenty fifth Day of February -- in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and fifty
The Condition of this obligation is such, that if the above bounden Sarag Grigg whole and sole Executrix of the last Will and Testament of Ephraim Grigg late of Wall End in Great Langdale in the Parish of Grasmere in the County of Westmorland Yeoman deceased shall and do well and truly execute, and perform the last Will and Testament of the said Ehraim Grigg Deceased; and do pay all his Debts and Legacys, so far as his Goods and Personal Estate will extend, and the Law shall bind her if also she do exhibit into Court a true and perfect Inventory of the said Deceased's Goods and Personal Estate, and give a true and just Accompt of her acting in the Premises, when she shall be thereunto lawfully called ; That then this Obligation to be void, or else in Force.
