Will of Isaac Nicholson of Randlehow 3rd February 1821, died 15th August 1823

In the name of God Amen I Isaac Nicholson of Randelhow in Eskdale in the Parish of St Bees, in the County of Cumberland Yeoman, being weak in body and considring the uncertanity of human life, but of sound minde and memory praised be God for the same do make ordain publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in maner and forme following that is to say, I will and order that my Funeral, Testamentary expences be payed by my Executrix herein after named and appointed as soon as convenient may be after my Decease I give and bequeath to my beloved Wife Sarah Nicholson and her Assigns, during the term of her Natural life, All that my Frehold, Messuage, Tenement, and Lands with the Appurtenance, known by the Name of Randelhow aforesaid, provided she pay all the Intrest for any Money I may have borrowed upon Note or Bonds During her natural life; and not otherwise. I give bequeath and Devise all that my Frehold Messuage and Tenement, with the House Land Ground Rights Privaliges and appurtenances whatsoever belonging thereunto and usually held and enjoyed therewith situated at and commonly called and known by the Name of Randelhow in Eskdale in the Parish of St Bees aforesaid; To John Russell in Eskdale, Yeoman, William Porter of Lowholm in Eskdale Yeoman, and Porter Tyson of Eskdale Hooper and to there Heirs Executors and Administrators of such survivor upon special trust and confidence and to and for the purposes herein after particlary ordered and directed, namely that my said Trustees and the survivors of them and the Heirs Executors and Administrators of such survivors do and shall raise by Mortgage or sale of the whole of said bequeathed and devised trust Real property or of sufficient and competant par thereof, the sum of Twenty Pounds and pay it to my Beloved Wife Sarah Nicholson if she demand it, and my Will is that the do sell that my aforesaid trust Real Property within one year after the Decease of my Beloved Wife Sarah Nicholson, and that they dispose of the money arising out of the sale of the aforesaid trust real property in the following manner that the pay themselves for al reasonable expences and loss of time that the may be put to in execution and fulfilling of the trust now in them reposed, and the shall not be answerable for the Acts and Deeds any one of them may do, but everyone answerable for his own Acts and Deeds, and that the pay all my just Dets whether borrowed upon Bonds or Notes or any other just [...] I may have contracted, and any other expences that may occur in respect of the aforesaid Trust Real Property and my will is that the divide the residue of the Money in the following manner. To my Three Sons Isaac, John, and Joseph Nicholson and my Two Daughters Ann and Dinah Nicholson to have each of them one Sixt part, and my Daughter in Law Allice Nicholson and Grandson John Nicholson, son of Allice Nicholson, to have one sixt part betwixt them share and share alike, in case any of the Legatees hapen to Die before his or her Legacy become due in that case I order it to be payed to there Heirs Executors Adminstrators and Assigns. And Lastly as to all my Personal Estate Goods and Chattels of what kind or nature soever or wheresoever I Give and bequeathe the same to my Beloved Wife Sarah Nicholson, whom I herby appoint sole executrix of this my Last Will and Testament herby revoking all former Wills by me made.
In wittness where of I have Hereunto set my hand and Seal the Third Day of February in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty One.

On the twenty eighth day of January in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty four the will of Isaac Nicholson late of Randel-how in the Township of Eskdale and Parish of St Bees in the County of Cumberland within the Archdeaconry of Richmond in the Diocese of Chester Yeoman who de-parted this life on or about the fifteenth day of August One thousand eight hundred and twenty three was [...] in written form and Sarah Nicholson of Randel-how in the Township of Eskdale and Parish of St Bees in the County of Cumberland Widow the sole executrix therein named was sworn well and faithfully to execute and perform the same and so forth and that according to the best of the knowledge information and belief of the said Sarah Nicholson the Executrix the whole of the Goods Chattels and Credits of which the said Testator Isaac Nicholson died possessed within the ARchdeaconry of Richmond in the Diocese of Chester (exclusive of what the said Testator might have been possessed of or entitled to as a Trustee for any other person or persons, and not beneficially and without deducting any thing on account of the Debts due and owing, by and from the said Testator) were under the value of Twenty Pounds
