The Will of James Russell 1828

In the name of God Amen I James Russell of Randelhow in the Townshp of Eskdale
and Parish of St Bees in the County of Cumberland Yeoman being weak in body and cosidring
the uncertainty of hum life but of sound mind and memory and understanding, praised be
God, for the same do make, ordain, publish and declare this my last will and Testament
in manner and forme following, that is to say, I will and order that all my just dets
Funeral and Testamental expences, be payed by my Executors here in after named;
I give and bequeath to my Son John Russell and to my three Daughters Ann Russell, Hannah
Russell and Elizabeth Russell, all my Household Furniture and Bedding and all my Quick Goods
and Husbandry utencils, I give and bequeath to my three Daughters Ann Russell, Hannah
Russell and Elizabeth Russell, the sum of Fifty pounds a piece to paid by my Executors
twelve months after my desece, and in case any of my three Daughters Die before there
respective legacies become due, her Legacy so dying to be divided between the survivors
share and share alike, I give and bequeath unto my grandson James Russell the sum of
Fifty Pounds to be payed twelve months after my Decese, and in case he die before his Legacy
become due, in that case I order his Legacy to be payed to my Son John Russell, I give and bequeath
to my two Grandaughters Elizabeth and Ann Russell, the sum of Tenty Five pounds a piece
to be paid when the respectively attain the age of Twentyone, and in case either of the said
Legatur die before she attain the age of Twentyone the survivor to have her share
and lastly as to all the rest of personal Estate, Goods and Chattels, of what kind or
nature soever or wheresoever I give and bequeath the same to my son John Russell, and if
in case my son John Russell die before me in that case I will and order that the
remainder of my Personal Estate(after the aforesaid Legacies be payed) shall be divided
amongst my three daughters Ann, Hannah and Elizabeth Russell share and share
alike, and I nominate and appoint my son John Russell, my good friend Porter
Tyson of Eskdale Hooper, and my good friend John Russell of Langragreen in Eskdale
Yeoman, executors of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all former
Wills by me made; in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this
Twelvth day of November in the year of our Lord, One Thousand Eight Hundred and
Twenty Eight

On the tenth Day January in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and twenty nine
This will of James Russell, late of Randal How in the Township of Eskdale in the Parish of Saint
Bees in the County of Cumberland, within the Archdeaconry of Richmond, in the Diocese of
Chester Yeoman, who departed this life on the Twenty Eighth Day December one thousand
eight hundred and Twenty eight, was proved in common form, and John Russell of Randal
Heir and John Russell Yeoman of Langrig Green both in the Township of Eskdale in the Parish of
Saint Bees in the County of Cumberland two of the Executors therein named were sworn, well and
faithfully to execute and perform the same, and so forth (Power being reserved for Porter Tyson of Eskdale
Hooper the other Executor, in the said Will named and so forth) and
that according to the best of the Knowledge, Information and Belief of the said John Russell
and John Russell, the whole of the Goods, Chattels, and Credits, […] the said Testator
James Russell died possessed, within the Archdeaconry of Richmond, in the Diocese of Chester
(exclusive of what the said Testator might have been possessed of, or intitled to as a
Trustee, for any other Person or Persons, and not beneficially, and
without deducting any thing on account of the Debts due and owing,
by and from the said Testator were under the value of
Four Hundred and Fifty Pounds
