The Will of John Porter of Lowholme 1745
In the Name of God Amen the twelfth Day of December in this
Year of our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred and fourty five
I John Porter of Lowholme in Eskdale within the parish of Saint
Bees and County of Cumberland Yeoman, Being in perfect Mind
ans Memory praised be God Do Make this My Last Will and Testament
in Maner. and form following
Impris. I give and bequeatrh My Soul into the Handes of Almighty God
and Christ Jesus My Mercyfull Saviour and Redeemer and My Body
to be Buried in Decent and Christian Maner., And as for my Worldly
goods and Estate I Give and Bequeath the same as followeth
Impris. I Give and Bequeath Unto My Wife Bridget Porter one Bed
and Bedclothes to furnish the same suitable for her Widow
Bed and forty shillinges in full for her share and part
forth of My Goods Chattells Rights Creditts and personall
Estate. Item I Give and Bequeath unto My Son Joseph Porter
Two Shillinges and Six Pence in full for his share and part
forth of My Goods Chattells Rights Creditts and personall Estate
And all the Remainder and Residue of My Goods Chattells
Rights Creditts and personall Estate I Give and Bequeath Unto
My Two Daughters Elizabeth Hartley and Ruth Dickinson,
whom I Make whole and Joynt Executorixes of this My Last
Will and Testament they paying My Debts Legacies and
Funeral Expences. This I Declare to be My Last Will and
Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my
hand and seal the Day and Year first above Written.
