The Will of John Russel of Randelhow Cottage 1838 (died 1851)

In the Name of God Amen, I John Russel of
Randelhow Cottage in the Township of Eskdale in the Parish of
St Bees and County of Cumberland, Considering the Uncertainty of
this mortal Life and being of Sound and perfect mind and memory
do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in man
ner and Form following (that is to say) First I Will and order that
all my just Debts Funeral and Testamentary Expences be fully
Paid by my executor as will be hereinafter named and appointed
as soon as conveniently may be after my Decease I give Devise
and bequeath unto my Sisters Ann Russel and Hannah Russel
all that my above named Cottage with the Lands, Hereditements prem
ises, priviledges, and Appurtenances thereunto belonging, situate at
Randlehow aforesaid for and During the Term of their Natural Lives
and lastly as to all the rest Residue and remainder of any Personal
Estate Goods and Chattles whatsoever and wheresoever and of what
Kind or Nature soever I give and bequeath the same unto my Nephew
James Russel whom I hereby nomenate, constitute and appoint
whole and sole Executor of this my last will and Testament hereby
Revoking all […..] wills by me made, In Witness whereof I have [….]
set my Hand and Seal this [thirteth] Day of January One Thousand
Eight Hundred and Thirty Eight

Signed sealed published and declared by the his
above named John Russel to be his last will John Russel +
and testament in the presence of us who have mark
hereunto subscribed our Names as witnesses
in the presence of the Testator

On the fifth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and fifty two this will of John Russell late of Randlehow Cottage township of Eskdale in the parish
of Saint Bees in the County of Cumberland, in the diocese of Chester who departed
this life on or about the twenty sixth day of September one thousand eight
hundred and fifty one was proved in common form and James Russell of
Crossfield in the parish of Cleator in the County of Cumberland, Yeoman,
the sole executor therein named was sworn well and faithfully to execute
and perform the same & so forth. And [the] according to the best of the know-
ledge Information and belief of the said James Russell the whole of the
Goods Chatels and Credits of which the said Testator John Russell died
possessed within the dioceses of Chester and Manchester and Archdeaconry
of Richmond in the diocese of Ripon (exclusive of what the said Testator
might have been possessed of or intitle to as a Trustee, for any other
person or persons , & ….eficially – and without deducting anything
on account of the debt due and owing by and from the said Testator
[…re] under the value of Fifty pounds
