The Will of John Swindell 1580, proved 1580

In the name of god amen,The seconde day of September in the
yeare of our Lorde god 1580 I John Swindell of Tonge in
the countie of Lecester yeoman, beinge sicke in bodye but of
good and perfecte remembraunce for which I geve god thankes doe
ordayne and make this my present testament wherin is contayned
my laste will in manner and forme  followenge First I bequeth
my sole to almightie god my creator, thorough whose mercie for
Christ his sake I trust to have remission of all my sines and my
bodie I commit to the earth to be buried by the discretion of
myne Executors hereafter named.  Item I bequethe my house beinge
my farme in Tonge to Margerie my wife so longe as she
shall and kepe her sealfe a widdowe, but yf she chaunce to marrie
then I bequeth the same my farme to John Swindell my sonne.
All the reste of my goodes and cattels I bequeth to Margery my
wife and I will that she shall keepe and bringe up my children
till they shall com to the age of xxti yeares and then I will that she
shall paye to everie one of them then livinge vjli xiijs iiijd for
ther portions. Also I geve to John my sonne my lande which
I latelie bought to hold to him and his heirs for ever.  And I will
that he shall paye to Ellen my daughter xls when his my
wife shall appoynt the same to be payed. Allso I doe ordayne
and make my sayde wife and John my sonne my Executors to see
this my laste will trulie performed .   And I doe ordayne and desire
that Mr Cole, Richard Ormstoun, Humfrie Swyndell and
James Wright shalbe the overseers of this my last will by whose
counsell I will my sayd Executors shalbe advised and derected
