In the Name of God Amen. I Robert Gregg of Cockermouth in the County of Cumberland Yeom, being in good Health of Body , & of a Sound & Perfect mind & memory, praised be God for the same but knowing the mortality of my Body, & the Uncertainty of my Life here upon Earth Do make & Ordain this my last Will & Testament, & thereby dispose of my Worldly Estate which it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me in manner Following And First I give & bequeath to my Son John Gregg Five Shillings to be paid to him by my Executrix at the end of 12 months after my decease if he shall personally demand the same.
I give and bequeath to my Grandchild Jno Gregg 2s : 6d I give and devise to my loving Wife Mabell my Freehold half Burghage with the Stable Garden & all the Appurtenances thereunto belonging situate in St Hellens Street in Cockermouth aforesd, Also a Garden & three [T]eefalls att the Head of the said Town, all which I give & divise to my Wife Mabell during her Life, and after her Decease to devolve to my Son John as his lawful Patrimony, but I further order by this my last will that he may not sell or dispose of them or any part thereof from my Grandchild John Gregg but if he survive my said Grandchild hen it shall be lawful for him to sell or dispose thereof as he shall think convenient All the Rest of my Goods, Chattles, Credits & all my Personal Estate I give & bequeath to Mabell my Wife whom I do appoint to be sole Executrix of this my my last Will & Testament She paying all my just Debts Legacies & funeral Expences & also the Intrest of a Mortgage upon the above mentioned House as it shall become due (that principal only excepted) & I do hereby revoak & anull all other Wills & Testaments by me heretofore made either in Word or Writing, In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand & Seal the 16th. day of January in the Year of our Lord 1743.
