In the Name of God Amen. The Thirtyth Day of September In the Year
of our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty five I Robert Sherwen of
Mosside within the parish of Gosforth and County of Cumberland Yeoman Being
in perfect Minde and Memory praised be God Do Make this My Last Will and Testament
in Maner and form Following
Impris I Give and Bequeath My Soul into the Hands of Almighty God and Christ Jesus
my Mercifull Saviour and Redeemer And My Body to be Buried in Decent and
Christian Maner And as for My Worldly goods and Estates I Give and Bequeath the
same as Followeth
Impris I Give and Bequeath unto My Grandson Robert Stubbs and My GrandDaughter
Jane Stubbs My Backward House and Passage House which Belongeth Unto Me
in Whithaven Equally Between them and Either of them Five Pounds to be
[……] Unto them by My Executor hereafter Named and Two parts of the back….
and Two parts of the Roome in the Chapell which belongeth Unto Me in full for
their Share and parts forth of My goods Chattells Rights Creditts and Estates, Item
I Give and Bequeath Unto My Grand Daughter Sarah Gunson Twenty Pounds
in full for her Share and part forth of My goods Chattells Rights Creditts and
Estates Item I Give and Bequeath Unto My Son in Law John Nicholson Ten Shillings
Item I Give and Bequeath Unto My Daughter Mary Nicholson Thirty Shillings
[yearly] and Every Year Dureing her Natural Life to be paid Unto her by My
Executor hereafter Named his Heires and Assignes forth and out of my Messuage
and Tenement Called Mosside within the parish of Gosforth aforesaid and
it is My Will and Minde that the abovesaid Legacies and Houses above by Me
[g]iven and Bequeathed Shall Not be paid Nor Receive and Rent or Benefit
of them Untill one Year After My Decease, Item I Give and Bequeath
Unto My Grandson Isaac Nicholson My Messuage and Tenement with
the appurtenances thereunto belonging caled and known by the
Name of Mosside in Bolton within the parish of Gosforth afforesaid
and also My front House in Whitehaven which face[z] the ould Chapell
and the pantry on the Backside of the House and a third part of the
Backside and the Litle House on the Backside; and A third part of the
roome in the Said Chapell which Belongeth Unto Me and previlledge
[to] the pompe. And all the Remainder and Residue of my Goods Chattells
Rights Creditts and Estate I Give and Bequeath Unto My Grandson
Isaac Nicholson whom I Make whole and Sole Executor of this My
last Will and Testament he paying my Debts Legacies above by me
Given and Bequeathed and My Funerall Expences. This I Declare
to be My Last Will and Testament, In Witness whereof I have here[unto]
sett My hand and seale the Day and Year first above Written
