Will of William Lowndes 7 March, 1721
Contents:
Richard Hill, Charles Sholes, Thomas Jett, John Duncomce to be allowed
£40 for mourning.
To his wife and to his sons Robert and William - £100 each and to his
sons in law Mr. Jett and Mr. Duncombe - £40 each for mourning.
His wife and then in succession, Charles Sholes, Thomas Jett, John
Duncombe, guardians of his children.
John Smith late Chancellor of the Exchequer and Richard Hill overseers
of his wife and as such to determine any differences.
7 March, 1721.

Codicil II
Since the making of his will, the reversion and inheritance in Spring
Gardens and the house and lands held by William Swindell near Chelsea
and Knightsbridge settled on his son Charles and 3¾ acres 20½ roods and
56 feet land in S. James Parish and houses thereon near King Street, Carnaby Street, are by Act of Parliament 9 Anne settled in Mark Frecker
and Thos. Bowen gent. In trust for the testator and his heirs.
He has also purchase from Edward Smith gent. and Frances his wife
another 6th part in lands in Romney March assigned to Thomas Bowen in
trust to attend the inheritance, which is to be demised to his son
Charles.

Codicil I
He has contracted with Mr. Thomas Lehens to give £3,000 with his
daughter Clara in marriage with his son Mr. Peter Lehens and now
countermands the £3,000 awarded as her portion.

Codicil III
Since making his will he has purchased from Edward Trumper and others
two thirds parts of a close called Dodds Close at Bellingdon in Chesham
and from Francis Duncombe, Thurley Wood at North Crawley and the manors
of Broughton, North Crawley, Milton and Woolaston, Bucks. Dodds Close is
to go to his wife and the houses at North Crawley etc., to his son
William.
28 November, 1723. Witnesses: Tho. Vernon, Robt. Barnaby, John
Beresford.
Codicil IV
Since making his will he has purchased from Sir Peter King, Knight, Lord
Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleass, and from Sir Nicholas Carew,
Bart. and Dame Elizabeth his wife and from William Temple, Esq., a
capital messuage and other properties at North Crawley, Chithley Astwood
and Newport Pagnell, Bucks, and the Advowson of North Crawley, formerly
the Estate of Nicolls Hackett. These, with the exception of the Advowson,
to his executors for 99 years from his death on trust for the payment of
legacies - £300 to his sons Richard and Joseph, and £200 to each of his
18 grand-children. These payments made, the estate to be assigned to his
grandson Richard, son of Robert, in
The advowson to the executors in trust to be presented to one of the
sons or grandsons being capable and qualified - after which to be
conveyed to the testator's heirs male.
