The Will of William Swindell 1831

April 13th 1831
In case of my death I wish that my mother shall receive the interest of my property during her life and that property afterwards to be distributed amongst my nephews and nieces share and share alike.
William Swindell, 2 King Street St James Square London
Appeared personally William Warren of Stapenhill in the County of Derby Farmer and William Woods of Burton upon Trent in the County of Stafford Grocer and made oath that they knew and were well acquainted with William Swindell formerly of King Street Saint James's Square in the County of Middlesex but later of Dunstable in the County of Bedford deceased for some time before and down to the time of his death and during the period [..........] soon [....] write and subscribe his name and thereby came also to know and be well acquainted with his manner and character of handwriting and subscription and having now carefully viewed and perused a certain paper writing hereunto annexed purporting to be and [.....] the last Will and Testament of the said deceased the same beginning thus "April 3 1831 In case of my death" ending "share and share alike" and thus subscribed "Wm Swindell" with the following address at the foot thereof "2 King Street St James's Square London" the deponents lastly say that they do verily and in their consciences believe the whole body [sones] and [conconts] of the said will with the said subscription and address at the foot thereof to be all of the proper handwriting and subscription of him the said William Swindell deceased.
William Warren, William Wood On the 9th day of January 1839 the said William Warren and William Wood were duly sworn to the truth of this affidavit by virtue of the annexed Commission before me F C Fell, Rector of the Parish of Ratcliff Culey
On the 9th Febry 1839 admon with the will annexed of the Goods Chattels and Credits of William Swindell formerly of King Street St James's Square in the County of Middlesex but late of Dunstable in the County of Bedford deceased was granted to Samuel Bacon the natural and lawful father and Curator or Guardian lawfully assigned to John Bacon William Bacon Matthew Bacon and Joseph Bacon Minors and Samuel Bacon an infant and also the Curator or Guardian lawfully assigned to John George Swindell Frances otherwise Fanny Swindell Spinster Elizabeth Kitty Swindell Spinster and William Charles Swindell and Elizabeth Warren and Mary Jane Warren Spinsters (respectively Minors) the only lawful Nephews and Nieces and as such the Universal Legatees substituted in the said will for the use and benefit of the said Minors and Infant and until one of them shall attain the age of twenty one years he having been first sworn by Comon duly to administer No Executor and Mary Swindell (wife of Joseph Swindell) the natural and lawful Mother of the said deceased and as such the Universal Legatee for life named in the said will having first [...]ounced the letters of admon (with the said will annexed) of the Goods of the said deceased Frances Ann Swindell Widow the natural and lawful Mother and [....] of [...] of the said John George Swindell Frances otherwise Fanny Swindell Elizabeth Kitty Swindell and William Charles Swindell and William Warren the natural and lawful father of the said Elizabeth Warren and Mary Jane Warren having first respectively renounced the Curation or Guardianship of their said children and [..........] (as by acts of courts appears.

William must therefore be the brother of John (father of John George) and have had two sisters who married William Warren and Samuel Bacon respectively. William Warren is a farmer in Derbyshire - Stapenhill is 1 mile south-east of Burton on Trent. It seems likely that the family came from this area.
