Notes

1    In 1911 Ellen states she has had 11 children, of whom 7 are still alive - it appears she forgot one birth. Note however that the 1882 birth has a mother's maiden name of Gladley, all the rest Ayre.

2    Birth registered as William Kenmir, married as William Kenmire Swindle. 5

No registration of the birth of William Swindle can be found 1858 - 1860. The birth of William Kenmir, mother's maiden name *,  is registered in the third quarter of 1858 in Morpeth (FreeBMD 10b 238). The * normally indicates that the mother was unmarried.

3    The Kenmire surname suggests that William was a bastard child of  one of Andrew and Jane's five children.  If Ann was the mother then he should have been registered as a Swindle. Nicholas had legitimate sons Charles and Andrew in 1858 and 1860. William would seem the most likely father to judge from the first name of William Kenmire.

4    Possible William Kenmir(e) Swindle and bastard grandchild of Jane. E-mail from Nadine Seal. Listed in 1871 and sunsequent censuses  census as William K. Swindle. See e-mail from Nadine Seall. (Actually a transcription error for Swindle in the Ancestry.co.uk online transcription.

5    The marriage of William Kenmire Swindle was registered in the second quarter of 1882 in the district of Easington. (FreeBMD 10a 584) The marriages of Ellinor Gladley and Frances Forbes are listed on the same page.

There is no birth registration in FreeBMD  for a Gladley, Gladly or Gladely or Gladeley (or similar) 1859 Q3 to 1862 Q1.
There only birth registration in FreeBMD for an Eleanor, Ellen or similar Ayre 1859 Q3 to 1862 Q1 is the one in 1859 Q3  noted below.

Eleanor Gladly Ayre is listed in the 1861 census at Wingate, Durham, daughter of Robert and Isabella Ayre, aged 4 months (ie born Nov/Dec 1860).
The birth of Elizabeth Ellen Ayre was registered in the third quarter of 1859 in Easington, County Durham. (FreeBMD 10a 301). The death of an Elizabeth Ayre was registered in Sunderland in the fourth quarter of 1859 (FreeBMD 10a 199).
I suspect that Eleanor Gladly Ayre was an adopted substitute for a dead infant. Note that the birth date is given as 12 Dec 1861 in the 1939 register; if this were correct then Eleanor could not appear in the 1861 register.

The marriage registration and the birth registration of Eleanor's first child (giving Gladley as the mother's maiden name) suggests that Eleanor thought of herself as a Gladley.

I have checked for a possible death and remarriage between 1882 and 1884 and found none.
