Died on the fourth 0f May 1853 aged 52 at 17 Farringdon Street

Born in Kirkby Street, Hatton Garden, Daniel inherited his undertaker's business from his father when he was twenty seven and married shortly afterwards. The business was in Farringdon Street (previously Fleet Market) and he remained there until he died.

Notes

1    The third generation of 'Daniel Butler, undertaker'. Daniel's cousin, Richard Butler, was also an undertaker and his son Charles Edward Butler is listed as an undertaker at 31 Farringdon Street in 1851.

2    1841 census

1851 Census - age 40, born Kirkby Street, Hatton Garden (in the Parish of St Andrew, Holburn). Later children of Daniel and Sarah were baptised in St Sepulchre.

3    Will written 14th August 1849 , proved 22nd June 1853

 

4    The death of a Daniel Butler was registered in the second quarter of 1853 in West London (which includes St Sepulchre) (FreeBMD 1c 41)

5    The birth of a Mary Jane Buttler was registered in the City of London in the second quarter of 1859 (FreeBMD 2 143)

6    In the 1852 london Post Office Directory Daniel Butler, furnishing undertaker, is listed at 17 Farringdon Street. At 31 Farringdon Street is listed Chas Edwd Butler, furnishing undertaker - a coincidence?
