Notes

1    Birth from 1841 census (Sydenham, Kent), where Robert is described as a watchmaker.

There is a Robert, son of William Belsey, birth in the IGI on the 23rd of July 1809 in Dover Kent but he was baptised in 1837 and married an Elizabeth Wilson on the 27th of October 1838 at St Mary the Virgin, Dover, Kent. Another Robert Belsey was baptised on the 23rd April 1809 in Eastry, Kent but I believe can again be demonstrated to be a different individual.

2    The marriage of a Robert Belsey was registered in the fourth quarter of 1839 in Lambeth (FreeBMD 4 333). The marriage of Jemima Tearse is listed on the same page. The exact date and location have been provided by Rick Tearoe (private communication Oct 2008). Marriage register page

3    The death of a Robert Belsey was registered in the fourth quarter of 1850 at the Strand, London. (FreeBMD 1 321). In the 1851 census Jemima was a widow with a one year old son.

Jemima was a widow of 31 at the time of the 1851 census and later remarried, to a William Ford (1861)
