Notes

I had originally transcribed the Crossthwaite reigister entry as Groall but have been corrected by Peter Croall, the great-great-grandson of Jane's father, Alexander Croall. He also points out that the 1881 census entry should read Alexander and Peter Croall, not COSALL. Alexander and Peter are two of Jane's brothers. Alexander later (1887) married Mary Ann Swindle, Alfred's cousin (or sister?)

Alexander married  in 1887 but stating his address as late Cleator Street, but now of Butts Lane 3 . It would appear that Alfred had moved to Cleator Street by 1887.

    Information from Peter Croall

Listed in 1861 census as the son of his grandfather Jacob
