Information from family tree from Anne Roberts / Jim Swindale

An Annie Swindle, born in Northumberland, is living with the Harrison family in Stanhope as a servant in 1881. Her age, however, is given as 33. Norman Swindle believes this must be this Ann Swindle since no other Ann Swindles were registered as being born 1843 - 1855.

The birth of an Ann Swindle in the third quarter of 1850 was registered in Hexham. (Norman Swindle)

The marriage was registered in Weardale in the fourth quarter of 1883. (Norman Swindle)

Probably a double wedding with her sister Jane - their civil registrations appear on the same page in the marriage register. Note that information from 6 below confirms that the Annie who married James Longstaff was the daughter of Wallis Swindle.

Contacted by a Barry Longstaff, grandson of John W. Longstaff. Family settled in the Stanley area.

John William Longstaff married Catherine Harvey of Haswell in 1917 at the age of 28 and died on the 25th of October 1935 at the age of 47.
